On Sunday, April 18th, farmworkers and hundreds of their allies will gather in Lakeland, FL, to call on Publix to help end the human rights crisis in Florida’s fields. Events will begin with a spirited picket outside of Publix in the Southgate Shopping Center (2518 S. Florida Ave.), followed by a 2-mile march to Munn Park. At Munn Park, a scenic town square in the heart of Lakeland, events will culminate with a rally and concert featuring live music from grassroots traditions around the globe. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs – you won’t want to leave!

Parking and Shuttles

If you plan to join the march, please arrive early and park on the streets or public lots surrounding Munn Park (address below). (Please note that parking meters and 2-hr parking restrictions don’t apply on weekends.) Shuttles will depart every 5-10 minutes from the north end of Munn Park (near the fountain) and take you to Publix for the picket and march kick-off. Look for vans or buses with “Farmworker Freedom March” signs in the windows.

The last shuttle will leave Munn Park at 1:50pm. If you arrive after this, you can proceed to the Publix supermarket at 2518 S. Florida Ave. and meet us there or along the march route. (Please note that we are not allowed to park in the Publix strip mall parking lot.) There is plenty of neighborhood parking near Publix and along the route, so feel free to find parking and join us. We will gladly give you a ride back to your car following the rally in Munn Park.

For van and bus drivers: Please drop your passengers off at Publix before returning to Munn Park to park. Turn onto Oak St. (street adjacent to Publix), turn left onto Southwest Ave. (street behind Publix), and drop passengers off there.

For participants unable to march: Following the 1:30pm picket at Publix, we will provide transportation back to Munn Park. Shuttle will depart from Southwest Ave., the street directly behind Publix.
