A Tale of Two Thanksgivings, redux…

[hupso_hide][hupso title=”New #Thanksgiving tradition: Don’t miss @CIW’s VIDEO, A Tale of Two Thanksgivings…” url=”http://ciw-online.org/?p=17204″] With Thanksgiving now only two weeks away, it’s time to drag out the projector, dust off the lens, gather ’round with loved ones and watch the old family movies… which, in the case of a Fair Food family, is “A Tale of Two Thanksgivings,” the special, two-minute video that we produced last season as a Fair Food take on Publix’s famous holiday commercials.  It’s good enough to take a second look this year, so we are posting it again, along with the reflection that accompanied it […]

Why we fight for Fair Food, a quick reminder from the fields…

[hupso_hide][hupso title=”From the front lines of the #FairFoodProgram! Education team sends photos from the fields…” url=”http://ciw-online.org/?p=17079″] As the Fair Food Program enters its third full season in effect, the CIW’s worker-to-worker education program hits the fields across the state! Just a quick reminder this morning of what we are fighting for when we fight for Fair Food: Above is a picture taken just hours ago — under new shade structures constructed to comply with the Fair Food Code of Conduct — at a farm in Muse, Florida, about an hour north of Immokalee.  It is a picture depicting the very foundation of […]

Fair Food nation calling on Wendy’s to end the hypocrisy with “Founder’s Week” protests!

[hupso_hide][hupso title=”Watch out, @Wendys! @Sfalliance, #FairFoodNation to have actions for @wendys founder’s week” url=”http://ciw-online.org/?p=17040″] Allies in cities across the country will be taking action at local Wendy’s restaurants the week of Nov. 11 (click here for the full schedule!), calling on Wendy’s to live up to the values espoused by its late founder, Dave Thomas… No corporation is a person, despite the convoluted legal logic that gave us the Citizens United decision.  People love their children, mourn their dead, and laugh until they cry.  But that doesn’t mean corporations don’t have personalities.  Every company has a slightly different internal culture, a distinct […]

“Tomato Rabbis” send powerful message to Publix!

[hupso_hide][hupso title=”#tomatorabbis to @Publix: It’s time to sign the #FairFoodProgram!” url=”http://ciw-online.org/?p=16996″] For fifth time, rabbis from across the country bring new energy, commitment to Immokalee — and call on Publix to join the Fair Food Program! Last week, we had the honor of hosting 12 leaders from T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights (formerly known as “Rabbis for Human Rights – North America”) here in Immokalee. They call themselves the “Tomato Rabbis,” (#tomatorabbis, in the social media world), and represent a rapidly growing cohort of Jewish leaders committed to the Campaign for Fair Food. It was, once again, a very rewarding […]
