Central Labor Council of Nashville, TN, endorses Wendy’s Boycott! Also, a must-see video from Charlottesville…

A note for Wendy’s from a participant at last month’s breaking of the Florida faith leaders’ fast in support of the Wendy’s Boycott in Naples.

Labor leaders join their voices to student, faith, and community support for growing boycott;

Must-see video: A remarkable documentary short from the events in Charlottesville casts a stark light on a disturbing reality some seem intent to obscure…

The Fair Food Nation received some very heartening news earlier this month when the AFL-CIO Central Labor Council of Nashville, Tennessee, voted to endorse the Wendy’s Boycott until Wendy’s joins the Fair Food Program!

Resolutions like this one were a key plank in the broad base of support that carried the seminal Taco Bell Boycott to victory back in the early days of the Campaign for Fair Food.  From the American Postal Workers Union to the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and South Florida Jobs with Justice, organized labor support for the Taco Bell Boycott —  which paved the way for the pioneering Fair Food Program and a powerful new paradigm for protecting workers’ fundamental human rights in corporate supply chains across the globe — was broad and deep.  As the Wendy’s Boycott continues to gain momentum and deepen its roots, endorsements like that of the Central Labor Council of Nashville will be critical to growing its power in communities across the country.  We thank the CLC of Nashville for its support and look forward to fighting together for labor justice in the months and years to come!

Thomas Jefferson: “An informed citizenry is the bulwark of democracy”…

While there appears to be an effort underway to blur the country’s lens on the tragic and deeply troubling events in Charlottesville this past Friday and Saturday, a new, 20-minute documentary — released yesterday by HBO and shot by a production crew from Vice TV that somehow managed to embed itself with the white supremacists and neo-Nazis before, during, and after the events of both days — simply must be seen by anyone who hopes to be an informed citizen in these extraordinary times.  The crew’s unflinching report wipes away the clouds of words obscuring our view and bares the appalling truth for anyone who cares to see, to see.

This disturbing video provides both behind the scenes footage and interviews with some of the leaders of the far-right, racist forces that terrorized that historic town for two days, allowing the white supremacists to define themselves, and their intentions, in their own words.  Please find 20 minutes today to watch the video.  While it is truly painful to watch, it is far too important to ignore.
