THURSDAY, MARCH 30: EXPOSING THE TRUTH TO McDONALD'S TARGET MARKET
The successful Taco Bell Boycott proved that
students and youth have a crucial role to play in the movement
for farmworker justice. The McDonald's campaign is no different.
The Golden Arches spends over $1.2 billion every year on marketing
and considers 18- to 24-year-olds
its new "sweet spot." This day of education and dialogue between
students and farmworkers will provide opportunities for students
to see the reality of farmworker exploitation
hidden behind McDonald's billion dollar logo and brand name. Throughout
the day, the CIW and Student/Farmworker
Alliance will give in-class
presentations, participate on educational panels, and meet with
students and youth in the greater Chicago area.

FRIDAY,
MARCH 31: VISIT TO McDONALD'S GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS (OAK
BROOK, IL) AND NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
The CIW and allies will spend Friday in the small village of Oak
Brook (population 8, 702), getting to know local community members
and sharing their hope for a day when farmworkers are treated and
paid fairly and have a voice in the decisions that affect their
lives. The day will include presentations, meetings, a picket at
a local McDonald's restaurant, a tour of the community and, finally,
a visit to the McDonald's corporate headquarters for a prayer vigil
and picket.
Throughout the day on Friday, people of faith
from across the country will pray that McDonald’s Corporation
will work with the CIW to advance the real rights of farmworkers
in its tomato supply chain. This observance will coincide
with the prayer vigil and peaceful demonstration led by the CIW
and religious leaders outside of McDonald’s headquarters. Click
